El alamein: The UAE-Egypt Heart Programme, operating under the slogan 'From the Heart to the Heart', has successfully broadened its specialised cardiac care services in Egypt. This expansion includes the deployment of a mobile cardiac catheterisation unit at El Alamein Model Hospital in the Matrouh Governorate, where the first cardiac catheterisation procedure using the unit has been performed. The initiative is designed to deliver advanced cardiac services to patients residing in remote areas, which are distant from specialised medical facilities.
According to Emirates News Agency, this development is part of the Programme's strategic efforts to create a model for mobile cardiac care. The model aims to facilitate cardiac catheterisation and interventional services in regions lacking specialised facilities. By doing so, the Programme seeks to enhance access to advanced medical services, minimize the necessity for patients to travel long distances, and provide prompt responses to cases requiring cardiac intervention.
The Programme is a collaborative effort between private-sector health and humanitarian organisations in the UAE and Egypt. It focuses on uniting efforts, expertise, and resources to improve cardiac services, increase access to specialised care, and use modern technologies to deliver sustainable healthcare services that meet the health needs of targeted communities.
Dr. Adel Al-Shamry Al-Ajami, an Emirati cardiac surgeon and CEO of the Zayed Giving Initiative, as well as Chairman of the Emirates Doctors Initiative and CEO of the Emirates Medical Preparedness and Response Program (Jahiziyah), highlighted that the Programme offers a comprehensive cardiac care system. This includes early detection, diagnosis and treatment, cardiac catheterisation and interventions, prevention and awareness, in addition to training and qualifying doctors, nurses, and technical staff.
Abdullah Zayed Al Falasi, CEO of Dar Al Ber Society, emphasized that investment in the health sector should go beyond treatment. It should also focus on training and empowering medical staff, transferring knowledge and modern technologies, and improving preparedness to handle emergencies and deliver specialised care in remote areas in accordance with international standards.
