Abu dhabi: The UAE Judo Federation announced that the national team is set to compete in 50 bouts against various participating teams at the International Training Camp currently taking place at the Olympic Complex in Tashkent. The camp will run until August 5th.
According to Emirates News Agency, the camp is organized by the Uzbekistan Judo Federation under the supervision of the International Judo Federation (IJF) and features 500 male and female athletes from global age-group teams, along with specialized training experts. The UAE squad includes athletes from several clubs, such as Manaa Al-Zaabi and Rashid Nematov from Kalba Sports Club, and Masoud Mohammed Masoud, Abdul Rahman Janiev, Anas Al-Yamahi, and Youssef Al-Awad from Fujairah Martial Arts Club. Other members include Bati Al-Hashmi from Khorfakkan Club, Saqr Al-Otaibi and Hamdan Al-Mazmi from Sharjah Sports Club, and Mohammed Al-Owais from Sharjah Self-Defence Sports Club.
Mohammed bin Thaloub Al-Darei, President of the UAE Judo Federation, highlighted that the camp provides valuable technical experience under the IJF's supervision. This opportunity allows national team athletes to refine their skills alongside leading coaches and world champions. He emphasized that the camp is among the most significant developmental initiatives for young judokas worldwide, as it prepares the national team for participation in the Youth Olympic Games 'Dakar 2026.'
