UAE National Team Defeats Croatia in Opening Match of Wheelchair Basketball World Cup


South africa: The UAE national 3×3 wheelchair basketball team has made a strong start to the 3×3 World Wheelchair Basketball Championship, currently being held in South Africa, after winning the opening match against Croatia 14-8, in Group A, which also includes Britain, Egypt, and Kenya.

According to Emirates News Agency, the national team players delivered a performance characterised by focus and fighting spirit, giving them the upper hand from the first minutes until the final whistle. Today, the team will play three important matches against Egypt, Kenya, and Britain, hoping to continue its positive results and advance to the final rounds.

Fourteen teams are participating in the tournament, divided into three groups. The UAE team is competing in Group One alongside Britain, Egypt, Croatia, and Kenya. Group Two includes Australia, Poland, South Africa, Malaysia, and Slovenia, while Group Three includes Spain, Canada, Austria, and Portugal.

This participation marks a new milestone in the career of the UA
E wheelchair basketball team, following its results in the Asian and Oceania Championship, held in the Chinese city of Hangzhou last June, where it ranked fifth.
