Khankendi: On behalf of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, participated in the 17th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO), held in the city of Khankendi in the Republic of Azerbaijan. The UAE’s participation at the summit was in response to a special invitation extended by President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan, highlighting the strong ties and growing cooperation between the two nations across key sectors of mutual interest.
According to Emirates News Agency, the summit was attended by several regional leaders, including President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Trkiye, President Masoud Pezeshkian of Iran, and other leaders from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, Turkmenistan, and Afghanistan. The event served as a platform for these leaders to discuss regional cooperation and development initiatives.
On the sidelines of the summit, Dr. Sultan Al Jaber met with President Ilham Aliyev. The meeting focused on reviewing the latest developments in bilateral relations and joint initiatives, as well as exploring new opportunities for collaboration in areas such as energy, renewable energy, and infrastructure. Furthermore, Dr. Al Jaber held discussions with Rashid Meredov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, to enhance cooperation between the UAE and Turkmenistan in priority sectors.
The Economic Cooperation Organisation is a regional intergovernmental organisation with member states including Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Trkiye, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. The organisation aims to strengthen economic and developmental cooperation among its member states, focusing on areas such as the economy, trade, energy, transportation, agriculture, and environmental sustainability.
