Abu dhabi: The Zayed Authority for People of Determination has successfully established an advanced vocational education system that aligns with international standards. This initiative focuses on empowering People of Determination by granting them professional independence and opportunities to actively participate in sustainable development.
According to Emirates News Agency, the Authority provides innovative educational programs and study plans tailored to meet the needs of its members, preparing them for the labor market. These programs are delivered under the guidance of qualified specialists and teachers. Furthermore, strategic partnerships have been established to expand employment opportunities in both the public and private sectors.
The Authority prepares People of Determination for entry into the labor market through its accredited vocational programme, which grants participants the 'Level 2 Certificate in General Skills for Work Readiness,' a nationally recognized qualification approved by the National Qualifications Authority. This vocational qualification targets People of Determination with intellectual disabilities and autism spectrum disorder, involving 578 members in fields such as hospitality, agriculture, and technical professions. The program emphasizes practical skills, including problem-solving, communication, time management, basic technological skills, and occupational health and safety.
Over a two-year study period, participants complete 20 learning units equivalent to 630 study hours, providing a comprehensive understanding of professional fields and helping them choose career paths based on acquired knowledge. This is followed by specialized study units that align with labor market needs and help identify professional interests.
Upon completing the academic units, participants transition to a one-year practical training phase, gaining real work experience in professional environments. This stage ensures an effective transition from academic frameworks to the professional field, aiding in securing employment with partner entities. Alternatively, graduates may join the Authority's protected production lines, continuing to receive training and professional development.
The Authority has also developed the 'Employment and Job Opportunities Programme for People of Determination,' a comprehensive training program supporting employment by providing practical experience during the training period. This programme targets individuals with intellectual disabilities and autism spectrum disorder who have obtained the Level 2 Certificate in General Skills for Work Readiness, lasting three months with monitored and evaluated trainee performance.
Mohammed Al Nahdi, Director of the Agricultural and Vocational Rehabilitation Department at the Authority, stated that the 'Level 2 Certificate in General Skills for Work Readiness' has been approved and implemented since 2023. Coordination has been established with partners, including institutions like Louvre Abu Dhabi, Aldar Properties, and Yas Mall, to train People of Determination through the three-month employment programme.
Parents of People of Determination have highlighted the crucial role played by the Authority in supporting their children. They noted that professional programs and qualifications have directly contributed to utilizing their abilities as a resource for economic development, providing training opportunities, strengthening self-confidence, and supporting their full integration into society.
Emirates News Agency also engaged with several People of Determination participating in specialized workshops in tailoring, antiques, printing, carpentry, and bakery production. Participants emphasized that the training not only equips them with practical skills for the labor market but also motivates them to overcome challenges, discover their talents, and ensure a promising professional future.
