Amman: Temperatures on Monday are predicted to exceed the seasonal average by approximately 4-5 degrees Celsius. The weather will be warm in the highlands and relatively hot to hot in other regions, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said in it’s daily update.

Clouds are forecast to appear at medium and high altitudes, while winds will be northwesterly moderate to activate at times.

Over the next three days, similar weather conditions will persist, with northwest moderate winds occasionally becoming active.

Today’s maximum and minimum temperatures in eastern Amman range between 19-33 degrees Celsius, in western Amman 17-31C, in the northern highlands 15-28C, in the Sharah highlands 14-29C, and in the Gulf of Aqaba 25-42 degrees Celsius.

ABU DHABI: President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has sent a message of condolence to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei, expressing his sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathy on the passing of President Ebrahim Raisi and his accompanying delegation following the helicopter crash.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, also sent similar messages of condolences to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Gaza – Together – Al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Jihad movement, announced on Monday that it had detonated an explosive device with Israeli foot force east of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip and fired bombs at it, killing and wounding its members.

The Al-Quds Brigades also said that they bombed with a barrage of mortar shells a gathering of occupation vehicles at the Civil Administration site east of the Jabalia camp in the northern Gaza Strip.

SHARJAH: The Department of Government Relations (DGR) in collaboration with the Alliance Française in Sharjah, has launched a series of initiatives and events aimed at strengthening cultural and educational ties with the French Republic.

These efforts are part of the emirate’s ongoing mission to build upon existing cultural exchange and promote French language education within the region.

A significant event in this regard was the global launch of the ‘Tivi5 Monde’ educational and entertainment app by French broadcaster TV5 Monde.

Sponsored by the DGR, the Alliance Française hosted the app’s global debut at the House of Wisdom, attracting a distinguished audience comprising Sheikh Majid bin Abdullah Al Qasimi, Director of DGR, ambassadors, officials, directors of Alliance Française branches across the UAE, as well as heads of French schools in Sharjah and Dubai.

The ‘Tivi5 Monde’ app is an innovative platform designed to facilitate French language learning through interactive videos and entertainment acti
vities, catering to a diverse range of topics and effectively helping children and young people acquire French vocabulary and phrases.

In addition to the app’s launch, the Alliance Française participated in the UAE Schools and Nursery Show at Expo Centre Sharjah with support from DGR. This event brought together a wide range of educational institutions from across the UAE, providing a platform for the Alliance Française to engage with the educational and academic community, showcase its unique approach to education and entertainment, and reaffirm its commitment to offering high-quality educational experiences to the public in the UAE.

Continuing its efforts to bolster Sharjah’s status as a French language and Francophone culture hub, the Alliance Française has also launched a range of new courses. By the end of June, students will have completed their first academic year in French language classes held at the House of Wisdom under the title ‘Wisdom Speaks French.’ These courses not only focus on language
learning but also incorporate monthly French cultural activities, such as culinary arts, to provide a comprehensive educational experience.

Furthermore, the Alliance Française will participate in the Open Day of the French International School on 1st June, enabling students and their families to explore the French curriculum and the opportunities available for enrolment in world-renowned French universities.

The Alliance is also expanding its educational programmes by reopening French language courses at the American University of Sharjah in September and organising Francophonie Day at the beginning of the same month, thereby reaffirming its commitment to promoting the French language and culture, all with the support of DGR.

Gaza – Ma’an – On Monday, Israeli artillery bombed the upper floor of the ‘Al Awda Hospital’ in the northern Gaza Strip in conjunction with its continuation of its siege for two days, while a number of Palestinians were martyred and injured in the bombing of several homes in the north and south of the Strip.

Eyewitnesses reported that the Israeli occupation army targeted the upper floor of Al Awda Hospital in the ‘Tal al-Zaatar’ area in the town of Jabalia with an artillery shell, without any reports of casualties.

On Sunday, Al Awda Hospital announced in a brief statement that the Israeli occupation forces had imposed a siege on it, preventing medical teams from providing treatment to the sick and wounded.

The Palestinian Civil Defense Service in the northern Gaza Strip also said in a statement on Sunday that the Israeli occupation army fired artillery shells towards ‘Al Awda Hospital.’

In a related context, a number of Palestinians were martyred and others were injured in an Israeli air strike that targ
eted them in the vicinity of ‘Kamal Adwan Hospital’ in the northern Gaza Strip, according to what medical sources reported.

The Ministry of Health in Gaza and international and international organizations had previously warned of the Israeli occupation army’s targeting of the health system in the Strip, and its repercussions on the wounded and sick Palestinians, while Tel Aviv ignored these warnings.

Gaza – Together – Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemi, UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation, announced the arrival of a shipment of food aid to the brotherly people of Gaza, allocated to the northern Gaza Strip, in joint cooperation between the United Arab Emirates, the United States, the Republic of Cyprus, and the United Nations, in addition to international donors, Including the United Kingdom and the European Union, via the waterway starting from the port of Larnaca in the Republic of Cyprus.

A container containing 252 tons of humanitarian relief supplies and aid for the brotherly people of Gaza was successfully unloaded at the United Nations warehouses in Deir al-Balah, awaiting distribution to the population in dire need of it.

Al Hashemi explained that the delivery and distribution of food aid, in cooperation with international partners and humanitarian organizations, comes within the framework of the UAE’s tireless and dedicated efforts to provide relief and address the humanitarian crisis i
n the sector.

Also, Al Hashemi confirmed that the UAE, within the framework of its historical commitment to the brotherly Palestinian people, continues, under its wise leadership, to provide urgent humanitarian aid and supplies to the Gaza Strip, indicating that from this standpoint, the country has to date delivered more than 32 thousand tons of urgent humanitarian supplies. , including food, relief and medical supplies, which were sent via 260 flights, 49 airdrops, and 1,243 trucks.

The UAE continues to work with international partners with stronger determination than ever before. To intensify efforts to ensure the arrival of aid and distribute aid through all available means and methods by land, sea and air to contribute to alleviating the burden of the critical humanitarian conditions faced by the residents of the Gaza Strip.

Geneva – Together – The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) announced on Monday that Israel forced 810,000 citizens to forcibly displace from the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip during the past two weeks.

Since May 6, the occupation forces began a ground attack on the east of the city of Rafah, while the next day they occupied the Palestinian side of the Rafah land crossing, stopping the flow of aid and preventing the sick and wounded from leaving the Strip to receive treatment abroad.

UNRWA said, via ‘X’, that ‘displacement continues in Gaza, and it is estimated that more than 810,000 people have been forcibly displaced from Rafah during the past two weeks in search of safety.’

There were about 1.4 million displaced people in Rafah, who had previously been forcibly displaced by the Israeli occupation, claiming that it was ‘safe’ before it launched a ground attack and intense air strikes that resulted in hundreds of martyrs and wounded.

UNRWA confirmed that “ever
y time families are displaced, their lives are exposed to serious danger, and they are forced to leave everything behind, in search of safety, but there is no safe area.”

It renewed its call for an immediate ceasefire.
