Zoom bolsters security offering with the inclusion of post-quantum end-to-end encryption in Zoom Workplace

Post-quantum E2EE now available for Zoom Meetings, making Zoom the first UCaaS provider to offer the new security feature

SAN JOSE, Calif., May 21, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Today, Zoom Video Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: ZM) announced that post-quantum end-to-end encryption (E2EE) is now globally available for Zoom Workplace, specifically Zoom Meetings, with Zoom Phone and Zoom Rooms coming soon. The launch of the new security enhancement makes Zoom the first UCaaS company to offer a post-quantum E2EE solution for video conferencing.

As adversarial threats become more sophisticated, so does the need to safeguard user data. In certain circumstances, attackers may have the ability to capture encrypted network traffic now, with the intent to decrypt it later when quantum computers become more advanced — a scenario often referred to as “harvest now, decrypt later”. So, while powerful quantum computers with this capability are not yet generally available, Zoom has taken a proactive stance by upgrading the algorithms designed to be able to withstand these potential future threats.

How post-quantum E2E encryption works
When users enable E2EE for their meetings, Zoom’s system is designed to provide only the participants with access to the encryption keys that are used to encrypt the meeting; this is the behavior for both post-quantum E2EE and standard E2EE. Because Zoom’s servers do not have the necessary decryption key, encrypted data relayed through Zoom’s servers is indecipherable. In addition, to defend against “harvest now, decrypt later” attacks, Zoom’s post-quantum E2E encryption uses Kyber 768, an algorithm being standardized by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) as the Module Lattice-based Key Encapsulation Mechanism, or ML-KEM, in FIPS 203.

Bombardier Announces Launch of its New Issuance of Senior Notes due 2032

MONTREAL, May 21, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Bombardier Inc. (“Bombardier”) today announced that it has launched an offering of US$500 million aggregate principal amount of new Senior Notes due 2032 (the “New Notes”).

Bombardier intends to use the proceeds of the offering of the New Notes, together with cash on hand, (i) to fund the repayment and/or retirement of outstanding indebtedness, including the redemption of US$240 million aggregate principal amount of its outstanding 7.125% Senior Notes due 2026 (the “2026 Notes”, and such redemption, the “Conditional 2026 Notes Redemption”) and the redemption of US$300 million aggregate principal amount of its outstanding 7.875% Senior Notes due 2027 (the “2027 Notes”, and such redemption, the “Conditional 2027 Notes Redemption”), and (ii) to pay accrued interest and related fees and expenses. Saudi Industry Minister begins official visit to Jordan


Amman: Saudi Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar bin Ibrahim Alkhorayef, accompanied by Vice Minister of Mining Affairs Khalid bin Saleh Al-Mudaifer, began an official visit to the Kingdom on Tuesday.

The Saudi minister will meet a number of government officials, investors, and heads of private sector companies in addition to making field visits to a number of Jordanian factories, the Saudi Embassy in Amman said in a statement on Tuesday.

According to the statement, the volume of Saudi exports to Jordan in 2023 amounted to SAR 7.6 billion, while its total imports from Jordan reached SAR 7.5 billion. The key Saudi exports to Jordan were food products, chemicals and polymers, and building materials, while key imports included medicines and food products.

Warm weather forecast in most regions


Amman: Temperatures on Tuesday are expected to align with seasonal norms. The weather will be warm across most regions and relatively hot to hot in the desert, the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba.

Winds will be northwesterly, ranging from moderate to active, and may stir dust, particularly in the Badia regions.

According to the Jordan Meteorological Department, Wednesday will see a continuation of warm conditions in most areas, with relatively hot to hot weather in the desert, the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba. Winds will remain moderate northwesterly, becoming active at times and blowing dust in the Badia.

Thursday will bring a slight increase in temperatures, but similar weather conditions will remain, with clouds at medium and high altitudes and moderate northwesterly winds, occasionally active and dusty, especially in desert areas.

On Friday, a significant temperature drop of approximately 2-3 degrees Celsius below normal levels is anticipated. The weather will be pleasant in most area
s and relatively hot in the desert, the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba. Low-altitude clouds will appear in the northern and center parts of the Kingdom, accompanied by moderate to active northwesterly winds, causing dust in the Badia.

Today’s maximum and minimum temperatures in eastern Amman range between 19-30 degrees Celsius, in western Amman 17-28C, in the northern highlands 16-26C, in the Sharah highlands 15-27C, and in the Gulf of Aqaba 22-41 degrees Celsius.
