Abdullah Bin Zayed Discusses Strategic Relations and Security Concerns with German Chancellor in Berlin

Berlin: H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Friedrich Merz, Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, in the presence of Dr. Gnter Sautter, Foreign and Security Policy Advisor to the Federal Chancellor of Germany. During the meeting, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah conveyed to the Chancellor the greetings of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and expressed wishes for further progress and prosperity for Germany and its people.

According to Emirates News Agency, Friedrich Merz reciprocated with greetings to President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and expressed hopes for continued prosperity and development for the UAE and its citizens. The meeting focused on reviewing the strategic relations between the two countries and exploring ways to strengthen cooperation in economic, trade, and investment sectors.

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah emphasized the UAE's desire to enhance cooperation with Germany in all sectors to serve mutual interests and support comprehensive development and sustainable economic prosperity. The discussions also covered the latest regional developments, particularly the Iranian attacks targeting civilian sites in the UAE using missiles and drones.

The meeting addressed the unprovoked drone attacks launched from Iraqi territory, including one targeting the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant that impacted an electricity generator outside the plant's inner perimeter. Friedrich Merz expressed Germany's solidarity with the UAE and condemned the terrorist attacks, while H.H. Sheikh Abdullah appreciated Germany's supportive stance and assured the safety of UAE residents and visitors.

Further discussions highlighted the serious repercussions of these attacks on international maritime navigation, energy supplies, and the global economy. The importance of enhancing international cooperation to protect maritime corridors and ensure the freedom of global trade was also emphasized. The meeting was attended by Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, Minister of State; Saeed Mubarak Al Hajeri, Minister of State; and Ahmed Wahib Al Attar, UAE Ambassador to Germany.
