Al-Halbousi receives the Secretary General of the GCC and affirms Parliament’s keenness to pass the necessary legislation to strengthen relations with his brothers in the Gulf

Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi affirmed Parliament's keenness to pass the necessary legislation to strengthen relations with its brothers in the Gulf.

A statement by his media office stated that Al-Halbousi received today the Secretary-General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, Jassim Muhammad Al-Budaiwi, and his accompanying delegation, and discussed with him prospects for joint cooperation in various fields, including the security field, drug control, economic, investment and electrical connection, as well as cooperation in cultural, academic, artistic and athletic fields.

During the meeting, the Speaker of Parliament referred to "Iraq's openness to its Arab surroundings," stressing "the parliament's keenness to pass the necessary legislation to strengthen all relations, especially the economic one, between Iraq and its brothers in the Gulf states."

For his part, the Secretary-General of the Cooperation Council stressed "the importance of strengthening Iraqi-Gulf relations in all fields, in order to achieve development and stability in Iraq."

He pointed to "the importance of the Iraqi Gulf Business Forum, which will be held in Sharjah next September, which supports economic partnerships among the countries of the Cooperation Council and Iraq. He also praised Iraq's regional role in regional issues."
