Arada Foundation and The Big Heart Foundation Expand ‘Home for a Home’ into Global Year-Round Initiative

Sharjah: The Arada Foundation has joined forces with The Big Heart Foundation (TBHF) to significantly expand its 'Home for a Home' initiative, transforming the innovative program into a year-round, global commitment.

According to Emirates News Agency, this pioneering initiative ensures that every home sold by Arada in its projects across the UAE, UK, and Australia will fund the construction of a new home for a vulnerable family. The 'Home for a Home' initiative sets a minimum target of 4,000 homes each year, with potential for that number to grow based on Arada's international sales success.

In 2026, the initiative's first full year of year-round implementation, plans include constructing 3,550 sustainable refugee shelters in Chad, in partnership with UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency. This effort addresses the needs of over 150,000 refugees who have fled conflict in Sudan. Simultaneously, 300 homes, including 50 accessible for people with disabilities, will be built in Indonesia's Yogyakarta Province with Habitat for Humanity. Additional resources will improve community training and water supply infrastructure.

Furthermore, a collaboration with the Norwegian Refugee Council will see 150 homes renovated in the Lebanese village of Ghazze. This project aims to support both Lebanese and Syrian families, as well as those displaced by renewed hostilities in South Lebanon, by improving living conditions and reducing protection risks.

H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, Humanitarian Envoy of TBHF, and Chairman of Arada, stated, "This programme reflects a shared vision of social responsibility that goes beyond business. 'Home for a Home' ensures that every success story in our communities creates a ripple of hope far beyond our borders. We are proud to deepen our commitment with new partnerships and a broader and more impactful global reach."

Mariam Al Hammadi, Advisory Board Member of The Big Heart Foundation, emphasized the transformative power of safe housing, stating, "A safe home is more than a place of shelter. It is the foundation of dignity, protection, and the ability to rebuild life after displacement, hardship, or crisis."

Arada's Group CEO, Ahmed Alkhoshaibi, noted, "Whether you're buying in London, Sharjah, Dubai, or Sydney, the story is the same - when you buy a home for your family, you're also buying a home for a family in need. Making this a year-round, global initiative highlights our belief that responsible development must also uplift others."

Originally a Ramadan initiative launched in 2022, Home for a Home has already funded over 2,100 homes for refugees and displaced people in Kenya, Chad, and Syria. Beyond housing, the initiative supports local infrastructure, education, healthcare, and employment opportunities, benefiting over 76,000 individuals globally.

Home for a Home aligns with Arada's commitment to sustainable development and the UN Sustainable Development Goals. It highlights the significant role businesses can play in promoting societal well-being and environmental sustainability. The initiative has been recognized with awards, including a Platinum Award at the Global ESG Awards and honors at the 2023 Arabia CSR Awards.
