Austria’s Unemployment Continues to Climb for 43rd Month

Vienna:Unemployment in Austria rose for the 43rd consecutive month in October, with the total number of unemployed individuals and those enrolled in vocational training programs increasing by 0.5%, or 1,823 people, compared to the previous year, reaching a total of 389,941.

According to Wam, data from the Public Employment Service Austria (AMS) indicated that the country's modest economic growth has not been sufficient to create enough jobs to curb the rising unemployment figures.

Petra Draxl, a member of the AMS Executive Board, noted that the economic recovery has begun to benefit certain groups. However, she emphasized that it remains too weak to significantly reduce unemployment on a national scale.
