Badr Organization refuses to hand over the advanced headquarters of joint operations in Kirkuk to the Kurdistan Democratic Party

The Badr Organization of the Northern Axis refused to hand over the advanced headquarters for joint operations in Kirkuk to the Kurdistan Democratic Party.

Badr Organization official, Muhammad Mahdi al-Bayati, said that the Kurdistan Democratic Party is a political entity that has the right to be present in any region in Iraq.

He explained that the recent protests in Kirkuk are “part of a crisis that has been going on for 20 years” regarding the issue of Kirkuk’s identity and the administration of the governorate. The Party has the right to be present anywhere within Iraq, whether Kirkuk, Sulaymaniyah, Kifri, Sinjar, or any other region, as it is a political entity recognized by the Independent High Commission.

He explained that Iraqi law does not allow the political entity to establish camps and armed forces, since the headquarters according to the street was security and military, pointing out that the Kurdistan Democratic Party was not forced to evacuate the headquarters previously.

He said that one of the controversial points is the “territoriality of the land,” noting that ownership belongs to the Ministry of Oil, which itself cannot build any edifice in this place due to its proximity to oil pipelines, less than 5 kilometers away.

He pointed out that the law is the only one that prevents the presence of any political entity, denying the existence of a political conflict in this regard.

He continued that the brothers in the Kurdistan Democratic Party must agree with the Iraqi government to find a political headquarters for them in Kirkuk, whether this headquarters or another, but after addressing the current legal problems such as land ownership and others, suggesting that this problem is “possible for solution.”/End
