Beijing: As marine tourism gains momentum, China has reported a significant increase in cruise passenger throughput during the first half of 2025, official data showed on Friday.
According to Emirates News Agency, data from the Ministry of Natural Resources revealed a 40.1% year-on-year increase in total cruise passenger throughput for the period. The ministry attributed this surge to supportive policies, improved supply chains, and a rise in travel demand.
From January to June, the marine tourism sector generated an added value of 771.8 billion yuan (approximately US$108 billion), marking an 8% year-on-year increase.
With the peak summer travel season now underway, the ministry expects cruises and other marine tourism activities to continue gaining popularity.
