Abu dhabi: Following the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, Dubai Humanitarian (DXBH) has dispatched a relief shipment to Nepal, bolstering the international community's response to the humanitarian crisis triggered by the devastating floods that struck the country last month.
According to Emirates News Agency, Mohammed Ibrahim Al Shaibani, Chairman of Dubai Humanitarian, emphasized that the shipment supports flood-affected communities in Nepal, contributing to the international humanitarian efforts originating from Dubai. This initiative underlines the emirate's strategic role as a vital global supply chain link. Dubai Humanitarian is proud of its ongoing collaboration with Emirates SkyCargo, which operated the flight under the exceptional emergency circumstances as part of the broader humanitarian initiatives. This action highlights Dubai Humanitarian's commitment to global coordination, rapid delivery of urgent relief, and support for communities in need.
The aid shipment, consisting of approximately 74 metric tonnes of emergency supplies, was delivered to Kathmandu on 8 September 2026 aboard a Boeing 777-F operated by Emirates SkyCargo from Dubai World Central (DWC). The cargo included essential items like tents, shelter materials, medicines, hygiene kits, and winter kits, sourced from the prepositioned stocks of UNICEF, the World Food Programme's United Nations Humanitarian Response Depot (WFP-UNHRD), and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).
Badr Abbas, Divisional Senior Vice President at Emirates SkyCargo, remarked on the longstanding partnership with Dubai Humanitarian, highlighting their joint efforts to support communities affected by natural disasters globally. The synergy of Dubai Humanitarian's relief expertise and Emirates SkyCargo's logistics capabilities ensures that critical aid is delivered to those who need it most. Emirates SkyCargo is honored to assist Dubai Humanitarian in this mission, guaranteeing that life-saving aid is transported swiftly and efficiently to Kathmandu.
The airlift's transportation cost was covered by the Global Humanitarian Impact Fund (GHIF), underlining Dubai Humanitarian's dedication to sustainable humanitarian response strategies. This approach aims to eliminate logistical and financial barriers that can impede the timely delivery of essential aid to those in dire need.
