ECSSR Launches Third EC-Global Roundtable Tour Across East Asia

Abu dhabi: The Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research (ECSSR) has announced the commencement of the third tour of its EC-Global Roundtable programme, scheduled from 31st May to 16th June 2026. The ECSSR delegation, which includes a select group of the Center's Contributor Experts, will visit Australia, Japan, China, and South Korea. This initiative aims to broaden the ECSSR's knowledge partnerships and enhance its global presence through meetings and discussion sessions with leading think tanks and academic institutions.

According to Emirates News Agency, the tour will feature a series of engagements in Sydney and Canberra (Australia), Tokyo (Japan), Beijing (China), and Seoul (South Korea). Noteworthy engagements include meetings with the Lowy Institute, the Australian National University, the Australian Strategic Policy Institute, the Japan Institute of International Affairs, the University of Tokyo, and the China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations, among others.

Dr. Sultan Mohammed Al Nuaimi, Director-General of the ECSSR, emphasized the programme's focus on building mutual understanding through dialogue and analysis, addressing major transformations such as economic developments, technology, regional and energy security, and supply chains. Major General (Ret.) Obaid Al Ketbi, an ECSSR delegation member, highlighted the significance of incorporating a comprehensive security perspective in discussions with think tanks to enhance the understanding of regional challenges.

Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Rashad Al Saadi, also a Contributor Expert at the ECSSR, noted the importance of institutional dialogue in developing precise assessments and analyses. Prof. Abdulkhaleq Abdulla, Contributor Expert at the ECSSR, explained that the tour is expected to bolster the UAE's presence in international discussions through knowledge-based discourse.

Nasser Hassan Al Shaikh, Contributor Expert at the ECSSR, underscored the economic dimension of the tour, particularly in advancing discussions on energy security and supply chains. Prof. Mohamed Binhuwaidin, Dean of the College of Humanities at United Arab Emirates University and a member of the ECSSR delegation, stated the engagement with academic institutions and think tanks facilitates the exchange of perspectives on geopolitical shifts.

Dr. Habib Al Mulla, Contributor Expert at the ECSSR, added that the tour provides a platform to present the legal dimensions of regional issues and exchange expertise on international law, contributing to balanced policymaking. This third tour of the EC-Global Roundtable is part of the ECSSR's continuous efforts to engage with global think tanks and policymakers, transforming dialogue into knowledge outputs that support sustainable research partnerships.
