Egypt Calls for Responsible Media Discourse and Stronger Relations with Arab Nations

Cairo: The Ministry of State for Information in the Arab Republic of Egypt, in coordination with the Supreme Council for Media Regulation, the National Press Authority, and the National Media Authority, has called for regulating media performance and strengthening the deep-rooted fraternal relations between Egypt and the brotherly Arab countries.

According to Emirates News Agency, the Egyptian media authorities emphasized that some recent negative practices in the Egyptian and Arab media do not reflect the historical relations binding Egypt with several Arab countries, including the United Arab Emirates, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Kingdom of Bahrain, the State of Qatar, the Sultanate of Oman, the State of Kuwait, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and the Republic of Iraq.

The statement highlighted that these fraternal relations, at various levels, are essential for safeguarding the interests of the Arab nation and that any attempts to undermine them are unacceptable. It called on media outlets in Egypt and the Arab countries to cease debates lacking factual basis and to avoid content that could harm these relations, stressing the importance of professional responsibility.

The statement urged cultural elites and opinion leaders to counter efforts aimed at sowing division and warned against the dangers of rumors and misleading information on social media. It emphasized the importance of relying on official sources for information and dismissing unreliable ones that spread falsehoods.

Furthermore, the statement mentioned that Egyptian authorities will take legal measures to regulate media performance and prevent violations that harm national interests or offend other countries. It also called on Arab nations to adopt similar measures to enhance media stability and protect relations from abuse or distortion.
