Abu dhabi: The Presidential Court has announced that Thursday will complete the Holy Month of Ramadan, and Friday will be the first day of Eid Al-Fitr in the UAE.
According to Emirates News Agency, the Presidential Court issued a statement indicating that the decision was based on the findings of the Moon-sighting Committee for Shawwal 1447 AH, affiliated with the UAE Council for Fatwa. The committee convened on Wednesday evening in Abu Dhabi, corresponding to 29th Ramadan 1447 AH (18th March 2026). After reviewing reports and moon-sighting results from across the country, it was confirmed that the Shawwal crescent was not sighted.
As a result, Thursday, 19th March 2026, will be marked as the final day of Ramadan, and Friday, 20th March 2026, will be celebrated as the first day of Eid Al-Fitr in the UAE.

The statement concluded with prayers to Almighty Allah, hoping for the occasion to return with continued blessings, prosperity, and wellbeing for the UAE and the world.
