Dubai: The Emirati Media Forum, under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, is set to commence its 11th edition tomorrow. Organized by the Dubai Press Club, the event will gather thought leaders, senior officials, media professionals, and content creators to deliberate on the evolving role of national media amidst rapid regional and global developments.
According to Emirates News Agency, the forum, hosted at the Mandarin Oriental Downtown Dubai, arrives at a pivotal time, addressing the media's role in promoting national values and fostering public trust. The event's agenda includes a keynote address by Abdulla bin Mohammed Al Hamed, Chairman of the UAE National Media Authority, titled 'When the Nation Calls: Media in Times of Crisis,' moderated by Nada Al Shaibani from Dubai Media Incorporated.
Another session, 'Beyond the Crisis: The Next Chapter,' will be led by Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Defense, Interior and Foreign Affairs Committee at the UAE Federal National Council, with moderation by Mona Al Raisi from the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority. The session will explore discussions on the post-crisis phase.
The forum will also emphasize the UAE's status as a global economic and investment hub through the session 'The UAE: Where Security Meets Opportunity,' featuring Mohamed Al Abbar, Founder of Emaar and Noon and Chairman of Eagle Hills, moderated by Hamed bin Karam, Editor-in-Chief of Al Bayan newspaper.
In a session titled 'Guarding the Skies, Reassuring the Nation,' Brigadier General Staff Pilot AbdulNasir Al Humaidi, Official Spokesperson of the UAE Ministry of Defence, will discuss national security efforts. This session will be moderated by Mohammed Al Ahmed from Abu Dhabi Media Network.
Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Vice Chairperson and Managing Director of the Dubai Media Council and President of the Dubai Press Club, highlighted the importance of re-evaluating the role of media amidst rapid changes. She emphasized the media's role in raising awareness, reinforcing trust, and supporting the national narrative during complex times.
Maryam Al Mulla, Director of the Dubai Press Club, noted the necessity of a fresh perspective on media's responsibilities. She stated that this year's forum aims to address exceptional regional circumstances, offering deeper dialogues on awareness, trust, and national narratives.
Since its inception in 2013, the Emirati Media Forum has served as a platform for media dialogue, supporting the development of national media and aligning with the UAE's future ambitions.
