Erdogan and Trump Discuss Bilateral Ties and Regional Issues at NATO Summit

The Hague: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met with US President Donald Trump during the NATO Summit in The Hague to discuss regional and global issues, as well as bilateral relations.

According to Emirates News Agency, President Erdogan welcomed a ceasefire between Israel and Iran, attributing the achievement to US President Trump's efforts. He emphasized the need for lasting peace, addressing the Gaza crisis, and encouraging dialogue concerning Ukraine.

President Erdogan stressed the potential for enhanced cooperation with the US, specifically in the fields of energy, investment, and defense. He suggested that improved relations could contribute to reaching a trade target of US$100 billion.

Both leaders emphasized the necessity of bolstering NATO's deterrence capabilities, recognizing their roles as leading allies within the Alliance, reported Trkiye's Anadolu Agency.
