Fujairah to Host Prestigious Taekwondo Championships in February 2026

Fujairah: The Fujairah Martial Arts Club hosted a press conference today to announce the details of the 2026 Fujairah Open International Taekwondo Championships and the Arab Cup Championship.

According to Emirates News Agency, both championships are held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, and are integral to Fujairah's international sporting calendar. The Higher Organising Committee revealed that the emirate would host the 13th Fujairah Open International Taekwondo Championships from 1st to 5th February 2026, followed by the 6th Arab Cup Championship from 7th to 9th February at the Zayed Sports Complex in Fujairah, drawing wide regional and international participation.

The organisation of both championships aligns with the vision of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi to bolster the sports sector, elevate Fujairah's status in international competitions, and establish the emirate as a hub for major sporting events, thereby contributing to the growth of sports and enhancing competition levels.

Dr. Ahmed Hamdan Al Zeyoudi, President of the UAE Taekwondo Federation and Chairman of the Higher Organising Committee, stated that hosting these championships demonstrates the UAE's capability to manage significant sporting events according to international standards. He noted that the Fujairah Open International Taekwondo Championships holds a crucial place on the global taekwondo calendar, offering high technical standards and valuable ranking points, serving as a platform to develop athletes' skills and promote Emirati taekwondo internationally.

Nader Abu Shawish, Director of the Fujairah Martial Arts Club, outlined the comprehensive operational plan by the Higher Organising Committee to ensure facility readiness and address all technical and organisational aspects. He highlighted the championships as vital platforms for athletes from different countries to interact and exchange experiences, underscoring the club's dedication to fostering national talent and enhancing athletes' capabilities.
