Abu dhabi: The League of Arab States and the General Women's Union (GWU) convened the first meeting of the executive committee for the Arab Observatory for Women's Economic Development. This gathering included national focal points from several Arab nations.
According to Emirates News Agency, the meeting's primary goal was to facilitate a smooth pilot operation of the observatory prior to its official inauguration, and to bolster collaborative Arab initiatives aimed at economically empowering women.
Noura Khalifa Al Suwaidi, GWU Secretary-General and Chair of the Steering Committee of the Arab Observatory for Women's Economic Development at the League of Arab States, initiated the meeting with welcoming remarks. She extended greetings from H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, the 'Mother of the Nation', who serves as the Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation.
Al Suwaidi also shared Her Highness' best wishes to the Arab nations and committee members, acknowledging their critical roles as focal points in activating the observatory and enhancing its impact on regional women's economic empowerment.
She emphasized that the observatory is a product of collaborative Arab efforts, highlighting the UAE's commitment to supporting joint Arab initiatives and stressing the importance of a unified platform to boost women's economic participation and skill development.
The meeting represents a significant step in ensuring effective pilot operations and fostering collaboration among member states, facilitating feedback exchange and the development of work strategies before the official launch.
