Dubai: L'‰tape Dubai by Tour de France, presented by Å koda and supported by Dubai Sports Council, has announced new race routes and an expanded programme of activities for the 2026 edition. Official registration is now open for the event, which will take place on January 24-25, offering amateur cyclists, families, and enthusiasts the opportunity to experience the spirit of the renowned cycling race in the UAE.
According to Emirates News Agency, the 2026 edition will feature new routes beginning at Dubai Design District (D3) and concluding at Expo Village Park, allowing riders to pass by some of the city's iconic landmarks. Participants can choose from the longer 112 km 'Epic Race' to the more accessible 61 km 'Classic Race', each designed to provide challenge and enjoyment. Starting in the heart of D3, participants will experience views of downtown Dubai with enhanced routes, including a loop around Global Village. The finish line and Saturday's non-competitive programme will be held at Expo Village Park, offering world-class facilities. The event will also include a Family Ride (20 km) and Kids' Race (300m - 1.8 km), celebrating cycling for all ages and abilities.
In line with the race's spirit, participants will have the chance to test themselves in popular sprint sections, compete for Tour de France jerseys, and meet cycling legends. The 2026 edition will also feature an enhanced Race Village at Expo, serving as the central hub for riders, families, and fans. Powered by Å koda and other partners, the village will host an expanded programme of activities. The wider programme will offer more social rides and activities from September through January, with initiatives to encourage greater participation from women. Special packages will be available for international riders to combine their participation with a stay in Dubai.
The inaugural edition welcomed over 1,000 participants, making it the largest first-edition amateur cycling event in the UAE. The 2026 edition aims to build on this momentum, welcoming up to 2,000 riders. With a mix of competitive races, family-friendly rides, and community events, the 2026 edition promises to showcase Dubai's growing passion for cycling.
Eissa Sharif, Director of Events Department from Dubai Sports Council, expressed delight at the success of the inaugural edition, attributing it to the capability of national talents in organizing world-class events. He noted that the event aligns with the vision to make Dubai a global hub for sports.
Fairouz Al Qazi, Race Director of L'‰tape Dubai, highlighted the success of the debut edition and its growth into a fixture on the region's sporting calendar. Antoine Quiers, Project Manager of L'‰tape Series - Amaury Sport Organisation (A.S.O.), emphasized the event's establishment as the leading amateur cycling event in the region. Lukas Honzak, Managing Director of Å koda Middle East, reiterated Å koda's connection with cycling and support for Dubai's mission to become a leading sport and cycling hub.
