M42 and 10XREVIV Launch Clinical Study on Precision Nutrition for GLP-1 Therapy Patients

Abu Dhabi:M42's Insights Research Organisation and Solutions (IROS) and 10XREVIV have announced a clinical study to assess the impact of precision nutrition on patients receiving GLP-1 therapies. The study aims to support the nutritional health and well-being of these patients by comparing the 10XREVIV's precision nutrition system alongside standard care with standard care alone.

According to Wam, the study will investigate nutritional status, body composition, and patient-reported outcomes such as fatigue, quality of life, and adherence, aiming to evaluate beyond just changes in body weight. The study is significant as GLP-1 therapies, commonly used for weight management, may lead to reduced appetite, food intake, and occasional gastrointestinal side effects, challenging patients to meet their nutritional needs.

Through this collaboration, IROS and 10XREVIV seek to generate clinical evidence to enhance patient support during GLP-1 therapy. The study also underscores Abu Dhabi's growing prowess in clinical research and its contribution to precision health solutions addressing emerging healthcare demands. Subject to study design and outcomes, the research could inform future nutritional support strategies during GLP-1 treatment in the UAE and globally.

A 2025 US study in Obesity Pillars involving over 460,000 adults on GLP-1 therapies found that 22.4% had new nutritional deficiencies within a year. Although most participants had type 2 diabetes, and the findings do not conclusively link GLP-1 medications to these conditions, they highlight the need for nutritional assessment and management during treatment.

David Kavanagh, General Manager, Omics at M42, emphasized IROS's role in facilitating rigorous clinical research for health innovations, stating their support in study design and oversight. Sarah Lomas, CEO of REVIV Global and Co-Founder of 10XREVIV, highlighted the study's importance in building clinical evidence for precision nutrition systems in GLP-1 therapy patients, aiming to enhance healthy longevity through research-led innovation.
