Abu dhabi: His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, has issued Resolution No. 28 of 2026 to establish a mediation centre at the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry. This initiative aims to enhance the commercial dispute resolution framework, supporting the business and financial sectors in the emirate.
According to Emirates News Agency, the resolution mandates the creation of a specialised Commercial Mediation Centre under the financial and administrative management of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The centre will operate under the supervision of the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, with its headquarters at the chamber's premises and plans for additional branches across the emirate to increase service accessibility.
The centre's key objectives include managing mediation proceedings between disputing parties through an advanced institutional framework designed to resolve disputes amicably and cost-effectively. It aims to promote mediation as a quicker method for dispute resolution, uphold governance, integrity, and fairness in procedures through neutral mechanisms, and foster a culture of mediation at local, regional, and international levels.
The resolution provides the centre with the authority to resolve disputes through court-referred mediation, consensual mediation, and other alternative dispute resolution mechanisms. It will offer mediation services for both local and international commercial disputes, in line with applicable laws, the centre's regulations, and any agreed-upon procedures by the parties involved.
Furthermore, the resolution specifies that settlement agreements reached through the centre will be ratified by a supervising judge, enabling them to be enforced as executory instruments in accordance with the UAE Federal Civil Procedures Law.
