Dubai: His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has issued Law No. (17) of 2026, establishing the Dubai Longevity Authority (DLA). The new entity aims to position Dubai as the leading global hub for regulated longevity, wellness, and advanced healthcare offerings, while fostering investment flows in the sector.
According to Emirates News Agency, Decree No. (14) of 2026 appoints H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, as President of DLA. Helal Saeed Almarri, Director General of the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET), has been named Chairman under Decree No. (15) of 2026. The DLA will leverage innovation, robust governance, and strategic partnerships to support the Dubai Economic Agenda, D33, and the Dubai Social Agenda 33, aiming to make Dubai a top city globally for quality of life and healthy life expectancy.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed highlighted the importance of investing in the health and quality of life of people. He emphasized Dubai's ambition to lead in longevity, wellness, and advanced healthcare, setting global benchmarks in health and quality of life. The DLA is tasked with establishing a science-driven regulatory framework for longevity-related therapies, supervising activities from research to patient clinics.
The authority, launched with coordination from key government entities, aligns with international standards to ensure excellence in the sector. Helal Saeed Almarri noted the economic potential of the Longevity, Wellness, and Advanced Health Sector, with Dubai positioned to capitalize on these opportunities. The DLA aims to offer regulatory certainty across the value chain, enhancing Dubai's role in advanced healthcare.
DLA's strategy includes creating an environment for advanced therapies, preventive interventions, and clinical innovations. Focus areas include safe experimentation, attracting high-potential companies, and fostering international collaboration. The authority aims to drive progress in therapies that extend lifespan and healthspan, improving quality of life.
