Dubai: Mohammed Bin Rashid Library has launched a new initiative, 'Knowledge Horizons', offering Dubai school students access to five local and international digital databases. This step aims to empower students to explore world-class knowledge resources innovatively to keep pace with the rapid developments in scientific research and digital transformation.

According to Emirates News Agency, Dr. Mohammed Salem AlMazrooei, Board Member at Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Library Foundation, stated that the initiative aligns with the Library's vision to enrich the knowledge society and foster a lifelong love for learning. He emphasized that equipping students with knowledge and digital skills is an investment in a generation capable of innovation and global competitiveness. The initiative is part of a series of efforts by the Library to promote reading and learning, including 'A World in Your Language' and 'A World Reads' initiatives.

Dr. Saeed Mubarak Kharbash, CEO of Policies, Research, and Programmes Sector at the Knowledge and Human Development Authority in Dubai (KHDA), highlighted that Education 33 focuses on promoting lifelong learning and developing a future-oriented education system. He commended the launch of the "Knowledge Horizons" initiative for instilling a culture of reading and learning among young generations, enabling them to access knowledge sources anytime and anywhere, and fostering a passion for continuous learning.

Among the key databases made available to school students are Nahla wa Nahil, Al Manhal, ProQuest, Dar Al Mandumah, and Media Info. These platforms provide advanced knowledge resources essential for enriching students' academic projects, preparing them for future challenges, and encouraging exploration of new frontiers of creativity and innovation.

In its first phase, the initiative targets several public and private schools. More than 8,600 students across five schools, including Al Ittihad Private School and GEMS Al Khaleej International School, have already benefited from it. The Library's databases offer free access to a wide range of resources, including e-books, audiobooks, journals, encyclopedias, and international newspapers, catering to various age groups from children to advanced students and academics.

The Mohammed Bin Rashid Library provides visitors and members access to eight specialized, reference, and research databases covering various fields. These databases support students and researchers in organizing and analyzing information, stimulating independent thinking, and enhancing research skills across all age groups.
