Mohammed bin Saud Attends Sharjah Census 2025 Results Ceremony

Sharjah: Sheikh Mohammed bin Saud Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Finance Department, attended the announcement of the Sharjah Census 2025 results, organised by the Department of Statistics and Community Development (DSCD) at Al Jawaher Reception and Convention Centre. The ceremony commenced with the UAE national anthem, followed by a presentation detailing the history and significance of the census for Sharjah's sustainable development.

According to Emirates News Agency, Sheikh Mohammed bin Humaid Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Department of Statistics and Community Development, expressed gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, for his forward-thinking approach that centres on people in sustainable development. He emphasized the critical role of accurate data in planning and decision-making processes, underscoring its value in providing insights and fostering confidence.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Humaid Al Qasimi highlighted Sharjah's progression towards an integrated smart statistical system, leveraging artificial intelligence and advanced analytics to forecast future needs. He announced that Sharjah's population has reached 2,135,888, with a significant increase of 51 percent between 2015 and 2025. The census revealed that males constitute 67 percent of the population, while females represent 33 percent. Non-UAE nationals make up 89 percent of the population, while the total number of Emirati citizens stands at 234,431, marking a 33.6 percent growth.

The census data showed Sharjah City as the most populous area with 1,899,202 residents. Educational indicators revealed that 64 percent of Emirati students are enrolled in government educational institutions. Employment statistics indicated a 178 percent rise in Emiratis working in the private sector, while social metrics highlighted a declining illiteracy rate and increased technology use among senior citizens.

Sustainability indicators demonstrated that a substantial portion of residential units are adopting alternative energy sources, with a significant percentage equipped with safety systems. The ceremony concluded with Sheikh Mohammed bin Saud Al Qasimi honouring contributors to the census's success and receiving a commemorative gift from Sheikh Mohammed bin Humaid Al Qasimi.

The event was attended by prominent figures, including Sheikh Mohammed bin Humaid Al Qasimi, Sheikh Majid bin Sultan Al Qasimi, and other senior government officials.
