Abu dhabi: The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR) is advancing its digital transformation initiatives across the higher education system, aiming to enhance the student experience and the functioning of higher education institutions (HEIs).
According to Emirates News Agency, these initiatives are designed to improve service quality, boost operational efficiency, and align with the Ministry's strategic vision for a more agile, efficient, and future-ready system. The digital transformation program focuses on redesigning services and processes in line with UAE's top government service standards, aiming to streamline procedures, enhance proactive services, and leverage data and artificial intelligence for quicker, more efficient, and precise services.
The Ministry plans to shift from 38 electronic services to 18 streamlined digital services, intending to simplify the customer experience by reducing the need to navigate multiple systems. This will create a unified services gateway centered around key journeys for students and higher education institutions.
MoHESR's digital transformation is structured around four pillars: improving efficiency and reducing bureaucracy through automation, developing proactive and personalized services using data, promoting digital inclusivity, and expanding the use of artificial intelligence in operations and service functions.
Amani Al Bannai, Assistant Under-Secretary for the Support Services Sector and Acting Assistant Under-Secretary for Higher Education Operations, stated that digital transformation in higher education is a strategic opportunity to create efficient and seamless experiences for all stakeholders. It enhances service quality and flexibility, supports decision-making through data and AI, and improves operational efficiency. The Ministry is committed to developing an integrated system aligned with the UAE's goals for a future-ready government model.
Al Bannai further explained that this strategy is part of a long-term vision to create a digitally connected ecosystem that integrates with government entities and strategic partners, enabling secure data exchange and the development of digital services that meet the needs of students and institutions, thereby reinforcing the UAE's competitiveness in digital government solutions.
Artificial intelligence is a key component of the Ministry's agenda, employed in areas such as intelligent chatbots, data analysis, smart case classification, compliance monitoring, and technical recommendation preparation, all contributing to greater efficiency and faster processing.
Scheduled digital projects for this year include an updated version of Edu Hub, MoHESR's platform for registrations and admissions, expansion of knowledge management, introduction of new digital modules, development of blockchain-based verification systems, and integration with government entities and international partners, enhancing data reliability and accelerating verification processes.
MoHESR's efforts also focus on simplifying customer interactions to improve response times, transparency, and decision traceability. The Ministry aims to expand digital integration with government entities and international networks to create a more interconnected and reliable digital ecosystem.
