Farnborough: Mubadala Investment Company (Mubadala), an Abu Dhabi sovereign investor, and Embraer, a global aerospace leader based in Brazil, have entered into a Strategic Framework Agreement at the Farnborough International Airshow. This agreement establishes a plan for long-term collaboration in areas such as supply, maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO), human capital development, and research and development.
According to Emirates News Agency, the agreement was signed by Amer Siddiqui, Executive Director at Mubadala's UAE Investments Platform, and Dimas Douglas Tomelin, Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer of Embraer S.A. The partnership leverages the UAE's comprehensive aerospace ecosystem, which includes aerostructures, advanced materials, MRO, and aviation services. As aircraft manufacturers streamline their supplier bases, this agreement highlights the UAE's integrated capabilities.
A crucial aspect of the agreement is workforce development. Mubadala and Embraer will jointly develop training programs to enhance engineering and aerospace skills in the UAE. This includes practical training, knowledge transfer, and work placements at Embraer facilities for Emirati talent.
Additionally, the two organizations will collaborate on research and development of next-generation aerostructures technologies. This includes work on composites, additive manufacturing, and high-temperature alloys, with plans to establish a co-located innovation hub for accelerating prototyping and scaling new technologies.
Dr. Bakheet Al Katheeri, CEO of Mubadala's UAE Investments Platform, emphasized the importance of the agreement, stating that it aligns with the UAE's vision of building a resilient and globally competitive economy. Francisco Gomes Neto, President and CEO of Embraer, highlighted the strategic nature of the partnership and the potential to advance industrial and technological capabilities in the UAE.
The collaboration involves key UAE aerospace businesses, including Sanad, an Abu Dhabi MRO specialist, and Strata Manufacturing, an Al Ain-based aerostructures producer. The agreement opens opportunities for these companies to expand their services and capabilities, reinforcing Abu Dhabi's position as a global hub for advanced industries.
