Paraguay President Visits Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi: President Santiago Pe±a of the Republic of Paraguay visited the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi, accompanied by Rub©n Ram­rez Lezcano, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Paraguay; Dr. Al Saghira Wabran Hamad Mubarak Al Ahbabi, UAE Ambassador to the Republic of Paraguay; Carolin Konther Lopez, Ambassador of the Republic of Paraguay to the UAE; and the accompanying delegation.

According to Emirates News Agency, President Pe±a and his delegation were guided by Dr. Yousef Al-Obaidli, Director-General of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre, during their exploration of the mosque's halls and exterior corridors. The visit commenced with a stop at the mausoleum of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, where President Pe±a and his delegation paid their respects to the UAE's Founding Father, reflecting on his legacy of promoting global tolerance, coexistence, and peace.

The delegation was introduced to the mosque's cultural message, which emphasizes coexistence, tolerance, and openness, inspired by the founding father's values. They learned about the role of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre in promoting Islamic culture and enhancing global cross-cultural communication.

During the visit, the delegation was briefed on the mosque's history, its architectural beauty, and the distinctive Islamic art that decorates its structure. They also discovered the mosque's unique collections and the finest examples of Islamic civilisation, showcasing diverse artistic and architectural designs in harmony, reflecting cultural unity.

On the sidelines of the visit, President Pe±a expressed his honor in participating in the occasion, emphasizing the importance of building bridges between cultures and peoples. At the conclusion of the visit, the President was presented with a copy of the book "Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque: Lights of Peace," a publication from the Centre that highlights the mosque's architectural style and artistic grandeur, featuring award-winning images from the 'Spaces of Light' Award.
