Abu dhabi: Sheikh Khalifa Medical City - Ajman (SKMCA), governed by The Medical Office, a subsidiary of PureHealth, has received the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards International (ACHS International) Centre of Excellence (CoE) recognition for its Women and Children's Hospital. This accolade is specifically for its specialities in obstetrics, gynaecology, and paediatrics.
According to Emirates News Agency, this recognition highlights SKMCA's steadfast commitment to providing high-quality, integrated, and patient-centric healthcare services for women, newborns, and children in the Northern Emirates. Annually, the Women and Children's Hospital serves over 1,326 patients, emphasizing its crucial role in promoting health within the region. The CoE recognition aligns with SKMCA's vision of delivering evidence-based, comprehensive, and coordinated healthcare services tailored to meet patient needs at every life stage.
Khamis Al Mansoori, Chief Executive Officer of SKMCA, stated that the international recognition is a testament to the medical city's dedication to quality, patient safety, and patient-centered care. He emphasized their ongoing commitment to maintaining the highest care standards for mothers, newborns, and children through effective clinical governance and multidisciplinary collaboration.
The hospital offers a wide range of services in obstetrics, gynaecology, and paediatrics, including maternity and high-risk pregnancy care, women's health screenings, fertility assessments, neonatal and paediatric medicine, paediatric emergency and critical care, and specialized paediatric services in several medical fields.
In 2025, the hospital managed 2,216 deliveries, including high-risk pregnancies, and recorded 34,078 paediatric emergency visits. This recognition follows a series of quality initiatives aimed at improving clinical processes, strengthening governance frameworks, and developing key performance indicators, alongside regular internal audits and continuous monitoring of patient outcomes.
The healthcare services at the Women and Children's Hospital are delivered by 57 physicians and 155 nurses, supported by allied health professionals and administrative staff, all dedicated to advancing the health of women and children.
