Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre Continues Hosting ‘Jusoor’ Programme During Ramadan

Abu dhabi: The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre continues, during the Holy Month of Ramadan, to host gatherings of the sixth edition of the 'Jusoor' programme, as part of its ongoing efforts to promote the values of tolerance and foster closer ties among cultures. The programme forms part of the Centre's initiatives aimed at enriching human dialogue and highlighting shared values among diverse communities, in light of the security, stability, and rich cultural diversity enjoyed by the UAE.

According to Emirates News Agency, Dr. Yousef Al Obaidli, Director General of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre, emphasized the programme's evolution from mere coexistence to a deeper engagement, facilitated through direct interactions during Ramadan. This framework is based on universal human values and shared cultural concepts, promoting cultural exchange and mutual respect. The UAE's security and stability further support this cultural momentum, allowing the nation to build a cohesive society that embraces diversity and fosters an environment of dialogue and openness. These initiatives reflect the strength of the UAE model, built on social cohesion and unity, and its ability to translate shared values into tangible practices that enhance mutual understanding among different peoples and cultures.

The programme's gatherings this year maintained a distinct Ramadan character, showcasing the spirit of the Holy Month and its values of tolerance and mutual respect. The event saw participation from 164 diplomatic representatives from various embassies, including those of the United States, Canada, Australia, and Slovenia, thereby enriching the programme through diverse participation and cultural exchange.

In a demonstration of broadening community involvement, several government entities participated in the programme. Employees from the Department of Economic Development and the Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research, along with faculty and students from New York University Abu Dhabi, engaged in volunteering activities such as distributing iftar meals to fasting individuals. This participation highlighted their humanitarian role and social responsibility during the Holy Month.

During the programme, guests engaged in a volunteering experience, distributing over 600 iftar meals to fasting individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds within the mosque's premises. They were introduced to the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque's message, inspired by the vision of the UAE's Founding Father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, which promotes human values and communication among peoples. Guests also witnessed the traditional Ramadan cannon firing, before joining the iftar meal in an atmosphere of human fraternity that embodies the cohesion and unity of Emirati society.

Since its inception, the 'Jusoor' programme has included 1,464 participants from 31 embassies accredited to the UAE, along with various entities, institutions, and Centre staff. Launched in 2019, 'Jusoor' aims to promote cultural communication, foster cross-cultural understanding, and reinforce the UAE's positive image both locally and globally throughout the year. The programme reflects the Centre's role in building bridges of communication, enhancing intercultural dialogue, and promoting human understanding among different cultures, as the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque continues to welcome millions of visitors from around the world annually.
