Emirates News Agency:South Texas SpaceX's Starship successfully reached Earth orbit for the first time on Monday, marking a significant milestone in the company's pursuit of a fully reusable spacecraft.
According to Emirates News Agency, the spacecraft lifted off from SpaceX's Starbase facility atop the massive Super Heavy booster on a planned test flight.
An issue arose early in the flight when one of Starship's engines shut down during ascent. However, SpaceX engineers confirmed that the spacecraft could continue its mission and successfully reach orbit.
The mission was designed to complete approximately six orbits around Earth over nearly 10 hours before concluding with a splashdown in the Pacific Ocean, west of Chile. During this mission, Starship also carried and deployed 26 new-generation Starlink V3 satellites.
