The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, stressed today, Monday, the importance of revitalizing and activating the economy among the countries of the region.
A presidential statement said that the President of the Republic "received, at the Baghdad Palace, the Secretary-General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, Jassem Muhammad Al-Budaiwi, and his accompanying delegation."
At the beginning of the meeting, the Secretary-General conveyed "the greetings of the leaders of the Arab Gulf states to the President of the Republic and their wishes for the Iraqi people for more prosperity and stability, while President Al-Budaiwi conveyed his greetings to the leaders of the Gulf states and his wishes for their peoples for further progress and prosperity."
According to the statement, "the relations between Iraq and the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf were discussed, where the President of the Republic emphasized the strong relations that bring the two sides together."
The President said, according to the statement, "We seek strong political, social, administrative and diplomatic relations with everyone," noting that "Iraq has the desire to expand diplomatic representation with the countries of the world and is open to everyone, and there are continuous visits to Baghdad, and our relations are good with neighboring countries as we meet with satisfaction Iraq's role in bringing points of view closer.
He added, "The security of the region is one and indivisible, and revitalizing and activating the economy among the countries of the region will serve everyone," pointing to benefiting from the experiences and expertise of brotherly countries.
The President of the Republic indicated that "the country is witnessing positive developments in terms of security and stability, which occupies a priority in the government's program," stressing "the need to take positive steps in order to facilitate the movement of money and trade, and to find formulas for cooperation on the issue of the environment and climate change, explaining that most of Iraq's water resources located outside its borders, and this requires coordination and cooperation in order to combat desertification and drought and its other disastrous consequences.”
For his part, the Secretary-General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf affirmed that the Gulf-Iraqi relations are proceeding well and correctly, based on common ties.
Al-Budaiwi expressed his "full confidence that relations between Iraq and the Arab Gulf states will witness positive developments in terms of electrical interconnection, trade exchange and other ties and commonalities."
He added, "The Council is ready to cooperate with Iraq in various fields, and the Gulf countries support Iraq, and we are pleased with the developments Iraq is witnessing and the stability in cities and provinces."
The Secretary-General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf praised "Iraq's role in bringing the views of the countries of the region closer together."
He stressed that he "will convey to the leaders of the Gulf states the desire of the President of the Republic to cooperate in the field of environment and climate change, stressing in this regard that the UAE will host (COP 28), and we are honored by your presence in the work of the conference through which we seek to find serious understandings, and in this regard the President of the Republic stressed the necessity Work on the actual implementation of the decisions of the conferences in a way that serves all peoples.
