Abu dhabi: The UAE air defence systems on 17th March 2026 engaged 10 ballistic missiles and 45 UAVs launched from Iran. This marks a continuation of hostilities that have seen significant engagements by UAE forces over time.
According to Emirates News Agency, since the onset of the Iranian aggression, UAE air defences have engaged a total of 314 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles, and 1,672 UAVs. These aggressive acts have resulted in the martyrdom of 2 members of the armed forces who were performing their national duty. Additionally, there have been 6 fatalities involving individuals of Pakistani, Nepali, Bangladeshi, and Palestinian nationalities.
The attacks have also resulted in injuries to 157 people, with their injuries ranging from minor to severe. The injured include nationals from a wide array of countries, including the UAE, Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia, the Philippines, Pakistan, Iran, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Azerbaijan, Yemen, Uganda, Eritrea, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Bahrain, Comoros, Trkiye, Iraq, Nepal, Nigeria, Oman, Jordan, Palestine, Ghana, Indonesia, Sweden, and Tunisia.
The Ministry of Defence has affirmed its preparedness to deal with any threats, stating that it will firmly confront any attempts to undermine state security. The Ministry emphasizes that it is committed to ensuring the protection of the nation's sovereignty, security, and stability, as well as safeguarding its national interests and capabilities.
