Bogot¡: Mohamed Abdulla Al Shamsi, the UAE Ambassador to the Republic of Colombia, engaged in discussions with Omar Bula Escobar, Colombia's Minister of Foreign Affairs, at the Ministry's headquarters. The meeting focused on strengthening the ties of friendship and cooperation between the UAE and Colombia.
According to Emirates News Agency, Al Shamsi conveyed greetings from H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, to Escobar and expressed wishes for ongoing progress and prosperity for Colombia's government and its people. In response, Escobar extended his greetings to H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, expressing similar sentiments for the UAE.
The discussions explored opportunities for expanding bilateral relations, particularly in economic, investment, and trade sectors. The two sides also deliberated on the completion of ratification procedures for several economic agreements, aiming to create a stable legal framework to enhance trade and investment flows.
Further emphasis was placed on encouraging investment flows and diversifying economic cooperation areas. Escobar expressed his aspiration to double the volume of bilateral trade in the coming years and affirmed Colombia's readiness to support UAE projects and investments.
Regional and international developments were also on the agenda, including the issue of hostile Iranian attacks targeting the UAE and other countries in the region. Escobar expressed solidarity with the UAE and condemned acts threatening security and sovereignty, while commending the UAE's role in promoting regional security and peace.
