UAE and Germany Unite to Bolster Economic Relations with New Business Council

Berlin: Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and Special Envoy to the Federal Republic of Germany, and Katherina Reiche, German Minister of Economic Affairs and Energy, presided over the official inauguration of the UAE-Germany Business Council (GUBC) during a high-profile event in Berlin. This launch coincided with Dr. Al Jaber's official visit to Germany and was attended by over 150 distinguished business leaders and senior officials from both nations.

According to Emirates News Agency, the establishment of the UAE-Germany Business Council is a testament to the enduring economic partnership between the UAE and Germany, a relationship that has been nurtured over five decades. The council is expected to pave the way for enhanced trade and investment opportunities while supporting sustainable development in an ever-changing global economic and geopolitical landscape.

Dr. Sultan Al Jaber highlighted the commitment to strengthening the UAE-Germany relationship, emphasizing that the business council will unlock new avenues for cooperation across sectors of mutual interest. He underscored the council's role in empowering the private sector and fostering sustainable economic development.

The event also marked the signing of the UAE-Germany Business Council charter, with Musabbeh Al Kaabi representing the UAE and Gnther Oettinger, former Minister-President of Baden-Wrttemberg and Co-Chair of the Council, representing Germany. Musabbeh Al Kaabi expressed confidence that the council will expedite collaboration and drive sustainable growth.

Additionally, the ceremony included a significant agreement between Masdar, a leader in clean energy, and EnBW - Energie Baden-Wrttemberg, a major European energy company. The signed Memorandum of Understanding aims at exploring collaborative efforts in battery energy storage systems in Germany and the UK, as well as assessing joint ventures in offshore wind projects and renewable energy technologies such as green hydrogen.
