Beijing: The United Arab Emirates participated in the Beijing International Publishing Forum 2026, a significant cultural event held in conjunction with the 32nd Beijing International Book Fair (BIBF) from 17th to 21st June. The UAE holds the position of Guest of Honour at this year's edition of the fair.
According to Emirates News Agency, the UAE's involvement underscores its commitment to a cultural and knowledge-based presence at the exhibition. This participation highlights the strength of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the UAE and China, aiming to further enhance bilateral cooperation in cultural and creative fields.
During a speech at the forum, Mubarak Al Nakhi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, emphasized the importance of the UAE's role as Guest of Honour. He remarked on the depth of UAE-China relations, which are built on mutual respect and shared aspirations, with a focus on culture and knowledge as key elements in fostering international understanding.
Al Nakhi highlighted the historical significance of the publishing industry in connecting civilisations and cultures. He noted that the UAE, guided by its leadership, continues to invest in a comprehensive cultural and creative ecosystem. This ecosystem supports authors, translators, and cultural institutions while promoting reading, innovation, and knowledge production.
Additionally, Al Nakhi reiterated the UAE's dedication to preserving and promoting the Arabic language and supporting cultural exchange and dialogue with nations worldwide. This commitment enhances openness, mutual understanding, and international cooperation.
