Dubai: Vidmantas Verbickas, Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania, emphasized his country's commitment to strengthening international partnerships and expanding cooperation through its participation in the World Governments Summit. He highlighted the significance of Lithuania's presence at the event as a member state of the European Union.
According to Emirates News Agency, Verbickas underscored the need for greater global connectivity and integration amid rapidly evolving challenges. He affirmed that the UAE is a vital strategic partner for Lithuania, especially in areas such as supply chains, logistics services, and advanced technologies.
Verbickas shared that his meetings with UAE officials on the sidelines of the summit focused on enhancing cooperation in various fields, including information technology, telecommunications, and tourism. He also noted that the launch of direct flights between Dubai and Vilnius last year has significantly boosted tourism and cultural exchange between the two nations.
Furthermore, the Vice-Minister pointed to the recent participation of a Lithuanian delegation in the 'Gulfood' exhibition in the UAE. During this event, Lithuania showcased its capabilities in food security and modern agricultural technologies, along with innovative food solutions catering to the space and maritime industries.
Verbickas concluded by highlighting that the World Governments Summit serves as a platform for decision-makers to explore future partnerships. He described it as an opportunity to strengthen ties between the European Union and Gulf Cooperation Council states, particularly the UAE, and to advance trade and investment cooperation, including prospects for future free trade agreement negotiations.
