Non-league Boreham Wood booked their place in the Emirates FA Cup Third Round for the third consecutive season with an impressive 2-0 win over Bristol Rovers at the Memorial Stadium.

The visitors took the lead after 18 minutes through Will Evans and doubled their lead at the half-hour mark when fellow defender David Stephens headed in following Femi Ilensanmi’s chip.

Rovers could not muster a real chance until the 82nd minute despite dominating possession, as they exited before the Third Round for the first time in four years.

Giantkilling Wood enjoyed a Third Round tie a year ago, beaten 2-0 by Everton.

There was no fairytale for fellow non-league side Ebbsfleet, whose run came to an end with a 1-0 defeat at the hands of League One Fleetwood Town.

It was the home side, who have lost just once in the National League South this season, who had more chances in a goalless first half at Stonebridge Road Stadium.

Ged Garner, who had hit the post after just five minutes, scored the decisive goal just after the hour mark when he capitalised on Ebbsfleet indecision to bury his chance into the bottom left corner.

There was almost late drama when substitute Franklin Domi saw his effort blocked on the line by Fleetwood defender Josh Earl five minutes into stoppage time, which proved to be virtually the last kick of the game as Scott Brown’s men advanced to the Third Round.

Chippenham’s first-ever Second Round appearance ended in a heavy 6-1 defeat at the hands of League One Burton Albion.

Jonny Smith and Deji Oshilaja made it 2-0 to the Brewers at half time and nine minutes into the second half that gap was widened further when Bobby Kamwa tapped in Tom Hamer delivery.

Harry Parsons gave Chippenham something to cheer about when he slotted home, but in a 12-minute flurry at the death, Sam Winnall added a quickfire double and Oshilaja added his second in the 90th minute.

David McGoldrick ensured Derby County’s safe passage to the Third Round with an 88th minute header to overcome Newport County at Rodney Parade.

Priestley Farquharson gave The Ironsides the lead shortly before half-time with a well-taken headed effort from Aaron Lewis’s fine free-kick.

But it took the Rams just nine second-half minutes to find an equaliser, with Louie Sibley slotting calmly into the bottom right corner.

The tie appeared to be heading for a stalemate and a replay at Pride Park, but McGoldrick’s cushioned header from a Sibley cross saw the Rams advance and break Newport hearts.

Ipswich Town also marched into the Third Round for the first time since 2019 with a 4-0 win over Buxton at Portman Road.

Conor Chaplin and Gassan Ahadme put the Tractor Boys 2-0 up at half-time and Chaplin added a second 20 minutes from time when capitalising on a loose ball, with substitute Kayden Jackson scoring the fourth in stoppage time.

The Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC) announced the signing of a partnership agreement with Cheil Middle East & Africa – one of Samsung Global Group’s companies – with the main objective of attracting local and global partnerships to sponsor all sports-related activities and events run and organized by ADSC.

This agreement falls under and within Abu Dhabi Sports Council’s ambitious plans and ongoing endeavors to promote important partnerships supporting Abu Dhabi’s sporting successes as the capital of global sports.

The partnership agreement was signed by H.E. Aref Hamad Al Awani, General Secretary, representing Abu Dhabi Sports Council, and H.E. Lyusok Jung, Chief Executive Officer of Cheil Middle East & Africa, on behalf of the company.

Cheil aims to attract local and global partnerships to sponsor all sports activities and occasions organized and managed by ADSC, as well as all International and local events, approved and included in its Annual Agenda, rich with various types of sports, such as the World Sports Leadership Summit “Leaders” – World Basketball Triple Championship – ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon – Spartan World Championship – Jiu Jitsu World Championship – Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Race – Mubadala Tennis Championship – UAE Tour – and many other activities in addition to the other local community races organized by ADSC at different locations in Abu Dhabi.

H.E. Aref Hamad Al Awani, General Secretary of Abu Dhabi Sports Council, expressed his appreciation and support for this unique partnership agreement with Cheil Middle East & Africa, and its highly positive future impact for attracting local and global partnerships, thanks to the company’s local and international expertise. In light of this signature event, H.E. Afghanistan Cricket Board and the Emirates Cricket Board have entered into a five-year mutual cooperation agreement.

The basis of the historic agreement will see the Afghanistan Cricket Board host its home fixtures, and utilize the world-class venues, in the UAE. Afghanistan Cricket Board will also play a series of three T20I matches each year with UAE National Team. In return, Emirates Cricket Board will provide valuable logistic support to the Afghanistan Board, including visa assistance and office space.

Naseeb Khan, Afghanistan Cricket Board CEO, acknowledged the cooperation between both countries and expressed his confidence that this agreement will be fruitful, and serve to greatly benefit future goals and ambitions.
