Doha: H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, participated in the 49th Extraordinary Meeting of the GCC Ministerial Council held in the State of Qatar. The meeting included the foreign ministers of the GCC member states and Jasem Mohamed AlBudaiwi, the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
According to Emirates News Agency, the council addressed the recent developments following the Iranian attack on Qatar. The gathering highlighted the solidarity among Gulf states in supporting Qatar, emphasizing that Qatar's security is vital to the stability of the entire GCC.
H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan harshly criticized the Iranian attack on Qatar, labeling it a violation of Qatar's sovereignty and a breach of international law and the United Nations Charter. He expressed the UAE's complete support for Qatar, commending its effective response to the incident and its commitment to maintaining peace and stability.
Sheikh Abdullah pointed out that the ministerial meeting exemplifies the unity and shared purpose among GCC countries in confronting threats to their security. He reiterated that the Gulf states are united in protecting their sovereignty and interests based on their close ties and common goals, ensuring their development and prosperity.
He further emphasized that dialogue and diplomacy are essential for resolving regional crises, which would contribute to regional and international peace and security.
