Emirates Council and Emirates Nature-WWF Host Open Majlis in Al Rams for Future Development Engagement

Ras Al Khaimah: The Emirates Council for Balanced Development and Emirates Nature-WWF recently organized an open, interactive community gathering in the Al Rams region. This event was designed to encourage local community members, including farmers, entrepreneurs, and youth, to participate in discussions about sustainable and prosperous future developments.

According to Emirates News Agency, the engagement event aimed to align future initiatives with the needs of the Al Rams community while preserving its geographical, cultural, and social identity. More than 80 community members, ranging from youth to elders, participated, discussing their roles in ongoing development and the preservation of Al Rams' identity.

The majlis is part of a larger roadmap for Al Rams' sustainable development. Previously introduced projects by the Emirates Council for Balanced Development include constructing a community majlis, enhancing the Al Rams entrance and corniche, upgrading the marina, and creating an eco-tourism master plan. These efforts are all part of a comprehensive approach to the area's development.

Under the leadership of H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Emirates Council for Balanced Development continues to collaborate with public and private sector stakeholders. This collaboration reflects the Council's focus on sustainable community development and quality of life improvements across the UAE, goals achievable only through collective efforts.

Al Rams, situated between sea and mountain, is home to coastal lagoons, mangroves, working farms, and unspoiled shorelines. This environment serves as a foundation for a new chapter of sustainable growth, with both the Emirates Council for Balanced Development and Emirates Nature-WWF championing nature-based projects to preserve the region's cultural and natural heritage.

Projects are underway to study Al Rams' biodiversity, create an eco-trail, and identify sustainable business opportunities. These initiatives are designed to conserve Al Rams' natural heritage and generate opportunities for the local community, especially the youth, farmers, and entrepreneurs who played a key role in the recent majlis.

Through these efforts, Al Rams is becoming a national model for sustainable rural living, where biodiversity is protected, local economies thrive, and visitors connect with nature and culture. The Emirates Council for Balanced Development is also working with the private sector to promote social responsibility and economic growth through the 'Emirates Villages' project, which aims to improve life quality and promote sustainable development across the UAE.

The partnership with Emirates Nature-WWF, now in its 25th year, further strengthens environmental stewardship efforts. The NGO continues to protect ecosystems across the UAE, support climate action, and engage individuals in environmental protection, enhancing initiatives like blue carbon assessments, restoration of traditional irrigation systems, and smart agriculture models.
