Masfout: The Emirates Council for Balanced Development (ECBD) has introduced the 'Steps and Memories initiative in Masfout, Ajman. This initiative is part of the council's continuous efforts to encourage active lifestyles and enhance community wellbeing across villages in the UAE, aligning with the national vision to build a healthier and more unified society.
According to Emirates News Agency, the launch event was attended by Dr. Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of Sports, and Mohammed Khalifa Al Kaabi, Secretary-General of ECBD, along with other officials and community members. The presence of these key figures underscores the strong national support for initiatives aimed at improving public health and encouraging community participation.
The 'Steps and Memories initiative specifically targets individuals aged 50 and above, promoting the adoption of active daily habits through community-based experiences. These activities are designed to foster connection, participation, and long-term behavioral change among participants.
During the event, attendees participated in a 1.5-kilometre community walk, which commenced at the Masfout Museum and proceeded through Masfout Gate. This route, a significant landmark linked to the area's natural trails, underscores the importance of local environments in facilitating accessible and sustainable physical activity.
The initiative is a testament to ECBD's broader commitment to developing ecosystems that support community-based physical activities. This commitment was recently reinforced through a cooperation agreement with Abu Dhabi Masters Games 2026, aiming to create sustainable models that boost participation and improve health outcomes.
Masfout's distinctive mountainous landscape and open trails offer an ideal backdrop for outdoor activities, enhancing the bond between individuals, nature, and healthy living. The initiative is part of a larger framework of programs driven by ECBD to empower communities, promote wellbeing, and position health as a sustainable lifestyle choice, while supporting national priorities in social, cultural, and tourism sectors.
Additionally, the initiative contributes to promoting Masfout as a unique destination for community and sporting activities, solidifying its role within an integrated development model that bridges health, tourism, and community engagement.
