GCC Achieves Full Coverage of Basic Health Services for Youth

Tunis:Gulf Cooperation Council countries have successfully achieved 100 percent coverage of basic health services for adolescents and young people, surpassing the global average of 68 percent. This achievement was highlighted in data released by the Statistical Centre for the Cooperation Council for the Arab Countries of the Gulf (GCC-STAT).

According to Emirates News Agency, the data also revealed that approximately 12.8 million adolescents and young people, aged 10 to 24, resided in GCC countries in 2025, representing 20 percent of the region's total population.

GCC countries have also reached complete compliance with basic national regulations concerning adolescent and youth health, compared to a global compliance rate of 84 percent. This underscores the commitment of GCC nations to adolescent and youth health by providing essential healthcare services and establishing national regulations to safeguard health and improve access to care.

Each year on September 30th, GCC countries observe Gulf Adolescent and Youth Health Day, emphasizing the significance of investing in the health of young people, enhancing preventive care and health awareness, and developing services tailored to their needs.
