Dubai: H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, chaired the second Defence Council meeting of 2026. The meeting focused on reviewing updates for the advancement and efficiency enhancement of the defence system in alignment with the Ministry of Defence's strategic goals.
According to Emirates News Agency, the meeting underscored the importance of adhering to international standards in the development of the defence system. H.H. Sheikh Hamdan emphasized the significance of bolstering readiness and efficiency across all sectors to ensure national security and protect the nation's accomplishments.
The discussions included plans for the development and modernization of various defence sectors. Initiatives aimed at enhancing operational readiness and strengthening both human and technical capacities were also explored. Additionally, the meeting reviewed future projects designed to support the Ministry of Defence's priorities and long-term growth objectives.
The meeting was attended by key military figures, including Lieutenant General Issa Saif bin Ablan Al Mazrouei, Chief of Staff of the UAE Armed Forces, and Lt. General Staff Ibrahim Nasser Al Alawi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defence, along with other senior armed forces officers.
