UAE and Jordan Explore Enhanced Parliamentary Cooperation

Baku: Dr. Tariq Humaid Al Tayer, First Deputy Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC), engaged in discussions with Mazen Turki Al Qadi, Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, focusing on the enhancement of parliamentary cooperation between the two councils. The talks took place on the sidelines of the 20th Session of the Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC), hosted in Baku.

According to Emirates News Agency, the meeting emphasized the enduring and historic relations between the United Arab Emirates and Jordan, highlighting the continuous development in various sectors under the guidance of their respective leaderships. Both parties acknowledged the depth of their longstanding ties and their mutual dedication to boosting cooperation and coordination for the benefit of their nations.

The discussions underscored the significance of parliamentary diplomacy in fortifying bilateral relations and advancing frameworks for collaboration on shared interests. This cooperation aims to enhance security, stability, and sustainable development efforts on both regional and international fronts.

Both parties reiterated their unwavering commitment to supporting regional and international security and stability, ensuring the smooth flow of energy supplies, and maintaining global economic stability. They highlighted the potential threats posed by any disruption to maritime navigation, considering it a risk to regional stability, energy security, trade, and global food security, as well as a violation of international law.

The agreement reached includes plans to intensify parliamentary cooperation between the Federal National Council and the Jordanian House of Representatives. This will involve exchanging expertise, sharing best practices, and continuing coordination on issues of mutual interest in regional and international parliamentary forums. These efforts are expected to bolster joint parliamentary actions and promote dialogue and cooperation among global parliaments.
