National Drug Enforcement Authority Launches Anti-Drug Campaign ‘United as One to Eradicate the Threat’

Abu dhabi: The National Drug Enforcement Authority, in collaboration with the UAE Government Media Office, has launched a nationwide campaign aimed at combating drug abuse, aptly themed 'United as One to Eradicate the Threat'. This initiative marks a significant stride in the UAE's ongoing efforts to address drug-related challenges, coinciding with the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

According to Emirates News Agency, the launch event took place at the Creators HQ and was attended by key figures including Sheikh Zayed bin Hamad bin Hamdan Al Nahyan, Chairman of the National Drug Enforcement Authority; Maryam Al Hammadi, Minister of State and Secretary-General of the UAE Cabinet; and Saeed Al Eter, Chairman of the UAE Government Media Office, among others. The campaign underscores the UAE's strategic vision to shield society from drug threats through a multifaceted approach involving prevention, public awareness, and legislation.

Sheikh Zayed bin Hamad bin Hamdan Al Nahyan emphasized the shared responsibility in combating drugs, highlighting that safeguarding families and communities forms the bedrock of national progress and stability. He outlined the campaign's three pillars: reinforcing the family unit as the first line of defense, empowering youth to make informed choices, and leveraging schools as partners in nurturing and educating children.

Major Fahad Abdullah Haikal, Spokesperson for the National Drug Enforcement Authority, presented international data from the UNODC World Drug Report 2025, revealing a concerning rise in global drug use. He stressed the importance of heightened awareness and proactive prevention in addressing these trends, while noting the UAE's commitment to maintaining safety and quality of life.

The campaign also introduced the Authority's new visual identity, symbolizing a forward-looking approach to prevention and community engagement. The initiative aims to transform awareness into actionable practices within homes, schools, and institutions, fostering a community-wide partnership against drug threats.

Sheikh Zayed highlighted the Authority's plans to utilize social media platforms to engage directly with the public, providing accurate information and support through the Hosn service at 80044, which offers confidential assistance for reporting, consultation, and rehabilitation.

A discussion panel titled 'The Socialisation Ecosystem' further explored the strategic roles of families and educational institutions in preventing drug abuse, emphasizing the need for mental resilience and open communication with youth. The session underscored the importance of a collaborative community partnership involving media, education, and rehabilitation services to ensure the campaign's success and safeguard the future of the nation's youth.
